On The Lecture Trail

From 2003-2010, Joanne has spoken to the Talent Management Class at Columbia College. During her presentation, Joanne emphasizes to the class the importance of understanding Venue Safety issues as they pertain to Managers. Joanne also discusses issues relating to Artist - Manager Agreements.

On October 25, 2003, the Chicago Bar Association hosted an all day entertainment seminar at the Chicago Hilton Hotel and Towers. The Seminar, entitled "A Primer for the Entertainment Community: Legal and Practical Issues About Venue Safety - What Should You Know," was well received by the entertainment community. Joanne F. Hurley, Co-Chair of the Entertainment and Arts Committee of the Chicago Bar Association, moderated the event.

On February 18, 2003, Joanne Hurley participated at a roundtable discussion for the National Women Business Owners' New Business Special Interest Group( SIG) on how business' should pick their professionals. Ms. Hurley's talk was entitled "10 Things That Every Business Owner Should Know About Working With Lawyers."

On September 21, 2002, Joanne Hurley participated in a Lawyers for the Creative Arts Seminar for the Mexican Cultural Center on the topic of Music Law. The Pilsen event drew over 50 musicians, producers, DJ's and small record labels.

On May 23, 2002, the second part of the Artsbridge Seminar was presented. This Seminar entitled "Contracts and Small Non Profit Organizations", focused on a discussion of contract issues for Chicago theater and dance groups and other non profit organizations The Seminar included reviewing actual contracts used by participants to see how they could be improved.

On January 30, 2002, Joanne Hurley spoke at De Paul University School of Law, as part of a panel of alumni, to students with an interest in an Intellectual Property Practice.

On January 17, 2002, Joanne Hurley conducted the first part of a two part Seminar at Artsbridge, a business incubator for the arts, entitled, "Lawyers... the Creative Person's Ally".
