Brandie Thomas, who worked over the summer in 2009, worked normal business hours while the others  worked 15 hours per week. All obtained valuable research and drafting experience. Eric took the Bar Exam during the summer of 2009 and did great. He is now a government lawyer. In January 2010, we will be joined by Kristin Corrigan, a third year student from Loyola University Chicago, School of Law.

Clarissa Benner, a German Legal Trainee also interned at the firm for 3 months. Clarissa is the 5th German Legal Trainee who has worked at Hurley Stanners. A Legal Trainee, after the conclusion of all German law school classes and before entry into the field of law, whether as an attorney, prosecutor or a judge, is required to work for 2 years in the German Courts, Governmental Agencies and with private law firms. Obviously, the focus is on building a diversified knowledge of the law. Clarissa, who is multi-lingual in German, French, English and Spanish has fit right in and has provided valuable assistance to the firm, while learning about the American legal system. She has worked diligently on all projects and has drafted contracts, researched a patent infringement and learned about the United States Copyright Act. She has also worked on an asset purchase transaction and Recording and Publishing Agreements for independent record labels. Clarissa passed her written examinations and we are very proud of her. Now she only has oral examinations in April, 2010 to conquer.

Joanne F. Hurley, the firm's Founder and Partner, served as a Board Member of the Village Players Theatre in Oak Park in 2008 - 2009. This, of course, merged Joanne's interest in the arts and love of theatre with not for profit volunteer work and becoming a part of the Oak Park community.
